Yuriko,
though of Japanese origin is now thoroughly
Indo-Japanese in sensibility, and has turned out
commendable work over years. I have been a
privileged witness to its unfolding. She brings the
well—known Japanese brevity, and the tightly wound
quality of the art of her mother country, to things
or experiences Indian. This has resulted not in
outlandish compositions but work that tastes
refreshing and with a new tang. One may even opine
that Indian artists could learn a few useful things
from her shy approach. She has thee advantage of
artistic distance, after all.
